Photos galore!!

Saturday, November 8, 2008

This post has all the long-overdue photos which were stored in my hp. Feast your eyes as i guide you through a random list of stuff that I did:
See this interesting glowing thingy? It's apparently a flower used to decorate the recept area of the ballroom @ Stephen & elaine's wedding.
Anyone knows the name of the flower??

Nice big portion of chicken @ Sempang Bedok. There's some Italian restaurant there that a friend recommended. Went there with two girlfrens but honestly didn't finf it fantastic. Think the name of the restaurant was Bardoque. It's near the hawker centre @ Sempang. Taste wise is fine, but portion for appetizer -- Calamari was pathetic. I had to pay $7 or something. felt really imbalanced. too noisy to have a good chat. Often can't hear what waiter was saying. However, it was really good to be catching up with my gd friends. Everyone's busy with their lives and one of them kept stressing on achieving objectives. I think what she said was absolutely right. we need to aim and focus!

This was what I had. not too bad, but i found it lacking in salt. Flavour not rich enough.

I know you don't believe when I tell you I've been trying to go to the gym (ok, i've only been there twice since the start of the hols..but HEY it's really a feat to get my butt to the plc) Anyway, here's PROOF that I did my jog @ the gym @ NSRCC whilst sweetie played golf. In actual fact, i did 8 laps hor, don't be deceived by the photo. For some reason, it bores me to be in the gym..I was YAWNING whilst exerciisng. Either it was really boring, or perhaps there was a lack of oxygen. Gonna try pick up some other exercise soon. PS: i've bought myself a skipping rope, but sweetie said I jump like an elephant, thus I hvnt jumped since. But seriously, at my age, i think I need to force myself to move and exercise more! Health is more valuable than any other thing. In fact, it feels really good to sweat it out!

Look at the Navy course at NSRCC...very scenic rite?

this is the linkway to the chill area where i often have my favourite drink -- Green Delight. A juice made of pineapple, sour plum and CAI XIn. Yes, u heard right. Raw vege CAI XIN! But it actually tastes nice n i felt really detoxed after that. feels really healthy.
The Swimming pool @ NSRCC. havent tried, coz it's always crowded with families and children are screaming at the top of their voices as they frolic in the glistening waters. URGH
I had a good game of tennis with friends the other day at NSRCC. Nice freaking hot weather!
Went with Sweetie and friend, Yifei for a public lecture @ NTU by some Nobel Prize winner (shitz, can't remember his name..will try to find out and fill it in later) who is I bet, at least 80 yrs old. He is the first Chinese from China of coz, to get a Nobel Prize. He is trained in Physics but came to singapore to give a talk on his views about the global issues now and how CHina has changed over the years. i wont say that his talk was all that insightful in terms of economics, afterall, he is a merely a Physics guru. However, what he said were right. eg. Why China is so successful as opposed to the US counterparts? Namely because they dont spend unless they have the power to do so. Also, Chinese have virtues which most Americans lack. He also showed us pictures of China 30 yrs back and China today....one word-- WOW! He said NO country has every made such significant development in such a short span of time. Then he pointed out that Singapore is one however we are not even a third of CHINA! so what's there to boast?

Was window shopping @ Parkway the other day and saw this amazingly cool table lamp! COOL RITE? tis' made of bottle tops with a big light bulb in the middle. I told sweetie i want to do up somethng lydat for the house. it's absolutely unique!

Sweetie and I went to this cosy little Italian restaurant @ Siglap (near Siglap Post office) for dinner one night (seriously duno when le)....this was what I had. Spagetti in Pink Lobster sauce. very thick and filled with lobster freshness. however, it's all noodles and sauce. it could do with more ingredients. After a while, u kind of get sick of it, coz portion's relatively filling for me and pastas get you bloated easily.

Sweetie had Lasagna. A little too cheesy and filling for his tastebuds. He had problems finishing it.

ooooooo my favourite! Clams in white wine sauce. still can't beat the little neck clams I had been having whilst in US. that was out of the world. What was served here isn't as good, but will do for the moment. however, I think Blue lobster's still the best!

The "appetizer"== Bread. isn't nice at all la! not hot and fluffy
I've come to the end of my show and tell. Till next time! :-)

VISIT CLOSETBUYS TODAY!

Thursday, November 6, 2008

Whether you aim to send other women into throes of envy -- or annoyance -- or not, this is the place to get THE apparel. Ok, I'm probably exaggerating, but do visit http://closetbuys.livejournal.com/

I've painstakingly (note, I'm not some IT guru, but I think I've even impressed my hubby who happens to be in the IT line) put together my apparel blog (trying out different blog host, thus this time I'm using livejournal....not bad actually). Show your support (n help me clear my closet!) I'm sure you'd be able to find something from sleek numbers to numbers for less-than-perfect-figure.

Dream, Dream dream dream.....

For the last two days, I've been waking up in tears. Strange. Why do people cry in their sleep? I googled a bit and found that they might be depressed (perhaps I m over the economy but that's about it), or perhaps they dreamt of something sad (i seriously cannot recall the first dream). this morning however, the dream was vivid. I dreamt that I had a dog , a Jack Russell. For some reason, though that dog wasn't mine, somehow it's very attached to me. I craddled it as if it were a baby and it licked me lovingly too. Then all of a sudden, there's this really fierce looking dog (looks like a wolf actually) which chased after another dog. They zoomed into the nearby wet market. Screams echoed the entire place as they ran to the Poultry section. Minding my own business, but at the same time weary of that fierce looking dog, I entered the wet market gingerly, craddling my Jack Russell. Just then, that fierce dog came out, jumped up and bit my little Jackie on its BUTT! as if that was not enough, it somehow managed to grab my hand and use it to poke little Jackie! OMG! That is sooooo warped! but it really happened in my dream! N i was sooo stunned. I mean poor Jackie's eyes blinded by me!!! I guess that was when i started crying in my sleep. The story hasn't ended. Instead of going berserk, little Jackie was simply whimpering, as if knowing that it was about to die. I craddlled it and asked for help desperately. However no one seemed to be doing anything! Then, a man, standing next to me, asked me to listen closely. He told me that he heard a howl coming from above. I thought he was mad, telling me such things at a time like this. But later, I looked up and indeed there was a dog (big Jack Russell) howling on top of a HDB flat! The man told me it was time for little Jackie to join mummy and that it was animal instinct that if the puppy was about to die, mommy will know and will track him down and be with him during the last moments of his life. That was when I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. Up a gazillion flight of steps and finally allowed both mother n pup (dont really know if it's a boy or girl) to reuniite.
THE END

NIce of not my story? Hey, it was a real dream ok! It felt so real. Wonder if it had any meaning to it, since I always hear of people having various interpretations of their dreams.

Different Strokes, Different Frequencies. the world lacks love!

Was planning to make today a productive day, but hmmm...not quite.
Woke up late...after preparing the stuff for the soup of the day, we went out for lunch with friends. went house hopping again. I do understand the excitement of those involved in the project, but at times I don't understand my dearest who seem to be easily excitable over others' projects. Anyway, that took up almost the whole afternoon. was back home only at 4pm. Met Fabian at almost 530pm to discuss about my motor insurance. The whopping premium increased industry wide by almost 30%. I was paying abt $1.8k per annum, but this coming year, it's gonna hit $2.1k! are they nuts or what! Fortunately, Fabian managed to find me a good deal== $1.2k+. Cool. Can go on instalment somemore! Yeepee!

Had a good talk with this old friend, who gave me some tips. Went up to share it with sweetie. As usual, he is skeptical of what MY friends say. It's always the case -- his friends/ relatives are always giving him perfect and good advice, whilst what I say or my friends say are always nonsense and should be taken with a pinch of salt. Perhaps the people I mix with are not as brainy? I beg to differ. At least they are all plagued with life degrees or university degrees. So why judge them? I don't feel good when my friends are being judged. Just because there were instances when the tips didn't go through well. No man is infallible. We need to show respect for fellow beings. Sigh, sometimes I feel that it's just so tough communicating with the opposite sex. Can't the other party just be more accepting? Has he gone out more than 3 times with my friends? I really wonder why am I so receptive towards his group whilst he can't do likewise. Pehaps it's really a difference in culture.
Actually I think the world just lacks appreciation, respect and love for one another. Was telling Fabian about the "Sorry about that" message from a kid...and he shared with me his experiences too. After helping his clients with their claims of over $20k, they don't even bother to thank him. It's not the money that we are hardup over, but the appreciation. It's really sad.
Anyway, enough of my ramblings, here are some photos to share:

Tonight's simple dinner. A follower of my blog commented that I'm always posting pictures of food....haha, but i can't help it la....it really excites me when I cook! (but not when i wash up!haha...fortunately sweetie helps in the washing)
By the way, in case you are wondering, The plate of meat is black pepper chicken. a little salty coz of the pre-made sauce I used and the bowl of yummy soup is Da Cai soup (Big vegetable soup-- literally translated!) Mommy used to bowl this soup only during CNY. she says that this veg isn't readily available. Thus when i saw it at Sheng Siong the other day, I GRABBED! However, sweetie doesn't like the bitter taste (wonder why since he likes bittergourd). Heng, my two other friends adored the soup. Yifei even told his wife to LEarn how to cook that particular soup!haha
Look at how sweetly our friend is sleeping after dinner!! Awwww like a baby!

Getting Stepped -- I'll be at your beck and call for life!

Tuesday, November 4, 2008

Apparently there's a saying that on your wedding day, if your husband or MIL steps on your feet, you'll be at their calling for life! Sounds scary or superstitious, well apparently, two friends have done so already!!! Fortunately, my facial gal warned me before my wedding and I took real good care of my feet!hhahha. In fact, when I asked her what will happen if I were the one who stepped on my hubby's feet, will he be at my beck and call? haha...she smiled and answered "dont tell people i taught u that"...haha But of coz I did not do such a thing. Knowing that my sweetie isn't a supertitious sort, and showing the respect a wife should have for her husband, our wedding was one with minimal superstition.

However, Pam and Elaine weren't so lucky! hahaha..n signs are showing that this myth is actually true! Anyway, I guess marriage is all about giving and taking and since one's willin to give and one's willin to take, whether or not u get stepped or step on each other's feet doesn't really matter. :-)

Okie, Photo time!!
As usual, we have to take a group photo. It looks like we have a huge family! haha, I finally got to sit in front! Stupid guys always think they are kings and hog the front row!
Alamak....what was I doing? There must be some cute hunk by the side!

Engross in singing (a little out of tune), while friends monkeyed around

Hey see, NO NECK!haha

THe thorn among the roses! Mr Groom getting all emotional that night.

I love what Geylang Lor 3 has to offer....nono..it's not what you are thinking...
I love the Frog porridge at Sinma Restaurant (or at least I think that's what it's called). It's spicy and salty all at once. However, it does come with a price. One little froggie cost a freaking $8! You certainly will not get enough of it. In fact, just last mth, 3 other frens and I visited the place and have 10 frogs! GOSH! That's a whopping $80, not forgetting the additional charge for the porridge and the side dish -- 四季豆 -- something that I've mastered (as you might have seen in my previous entries)
Well, since this is one of my favourites, I decided to learn to cook it. 85% success I'd say!
Say HI to Kermit....ops...I'm sorry he's a little bare today! haha
Bought these little jumpers @ Sheng Siong. It was supposed to be one for $2.20. I took 3 thinking it'd cost me $6.60 but end up, when I paid for it, the sticker scanned out to be $1.80! That's 60 cents per frog! To think that Geylang sells it at $8 per frog! gosh! Thinking that since it's so cheap, I decided to buy another two froggies. But this time, I guess they got smarter and scanned the right price. $4.40 for two. hehe...but hey! overall it's still cheap ok! ...by the way, Sheng Siong sells LIVE frogs too if you dare kill and skin them alive! eewwwwwww
Check this out! I got the recipe online, but it's not quite what geylang is serving. A little sweet and I added Garlic coz sweetie loves garlic. In fact, i think it has its own flavour! Perhaps I can open a stall at Lor 4!haha

Rise and Shine!

Sunday, November 2, 2008

Wooo...it's 730am and I'm awake and blogging! SHIT! I should be sleeping coz it's the first of the three days when I finally have a decent break. Actually yesterday was the start of the break. After a night of partying, I woke up at noon (FInally i'm sleeping till noon!). Sweetie bought me lunch, we ate, I surfed, we watched tv programmes for a while and zonked off again at 3pm. Slept all the way till 630pm and went to MIL's house for din! GOSH! pigs.

After dinner, we came home and all of a sudden i was sneezing crazily! non stop. nose was utterly block n i felt terrible! headache and nauseous! Dont know why. can't sleep coz have slept too much in the day. Ate chips but can't taste a thing!

Anyway, yes, it's bright and early now. Sweetie went for golf at 730am which explains why I'm up so early! Kena disturbed! but hmm..not bad, woke up, checked email, registered for a domain (finally!) and am going to the gym @ the club in a while (hopefully). Need to stay focus and achieve my objectives.

Oh....a random thought.. yesterday, a student of mine (she's been with me since P4! and nxt yr she'd be Sec 4) sms me to say "my parents wants to put me in gp tuition....sorry about that". with that, it ended our 5 yr relationship. Just like that. I seriously dont feel good. Not because i lost a mode of income but rather, I feel some people are just so unfeeling. SORRY ABOUT THAT? geez..no word of thanks at least? like Thank you for all your help? Perhaps they felt i didnt help enough. But sometimes, people should understand that it takes two hands to clap. If you dont even bother to try to pay attention in class and learn the basics, no one can help you. And If you dont bother to practise and remember stuff, it's really hard to move forward and finally if you keep missing lessons, there's really very little that we can do. Not everyone are born a genius. When she was younger, things seems more innocent. Homework was always completed and we were always ahead of syllabus. However, since Sec 2, things changed. Tremendously. especially for this yr. Believe there were various factors like BGR perhaps, friendships and CCAs....that's the problem, teens dont know how to handle their life well enough. There should always be a section in our brains for studies and another section for friends/ problems/ family etc. Time management's very important too! Anyway, from an economic point of view, my friends will tell me, 旧的不去新的不来. Indeed, I've already gotten two new kids on the block for next yr. :-). Well all the best to that student. Sincerely wish that she'll buck up and pass her O Levels next year.
